The Singer and the Song welcomes performing musicians who come into KOOP to perform live for the whole hour, though we sometimes celebrate an artist through their recorded works. We’ve welcomed solo acoustic players, jazz bands, rock bands, country bands, Austin-based or just traveling through.

Rush Evans loves the music of Austin and the musicians who make it. He couldn’t believe he lived in the same city as Willie Nelson, Steven Fromholz, and Jerry Jeff Walker in the seventies, and the tradition they launched got him to following Texas music ever since. Now Texas musicians and plenty from farther away join him on the radio for live performances and lively conversation each week.
